Mette Henriette
Description:
This is the second ECM album in eight years by Norwegian performer/saxophonist/composer Mette Henriette, who made her debut in 2015 with a self-titled 2CD album. This is an album steeped in singular and original expression in trio conversation, with Johan Lindvall on piano, Judit Hamann on cello, and Mette herself on saxophone, Mette's chamber music proves its intensive and searching quality through subtle and intense interplay. Motifs and recurring patterns crystallize and reveal a concise and complex narrative. The saxophonist and composer says, "The album captures one moment vividly. And then it moves on and on and goes somewhere. You can hear everything in motion and how present my imagination is. Before recording, I had time to sit back and focus on this new music. From the beginning, I wanted to create material that could grow, expand, and contract in a variety of formats. It is radically different from my previous work."Recorded at the Munch Museum in Oslo and completed at Studio La Buissonne in close collaboration with producer Manfred Eicher, the trio's deep exploration of quiet textures and rich timbres is accurately and clearly expressed. [Personnel] Mette Henriette (ts, composition) Johan Lindvall (p) Judith Hamann (violoncello)
