This fourth volume in the on-going series documents the overview of each Waffen-SS unit that fought in World War II, and follows each unit as it was formed and where it fought. Within each of the battles covered, the book focuses specifically on Waffen-SS soldiers awarded the various grades of the Knight's Cross. This book covers the period January to May 1944 and details actions mainly in the east, as well as actions in the Balkans and Hungary, with 45 Knight’s Crosses, 7 Oakleaves, 3 Swords and the first Diamonds awardees covered. It was written with the help of surviving Knight’s Cross holders and Waffen-SS soldiers that fought alongside them. Original maps detail the significance of each battle and the part played by the various Waffen-SS Knight’s Cross awardees. This fourth volume also includes a foreword by Karl-Heinz Euling, awarded the Knight's Cross while serving with the 10. SS Panzer Division Frundsberg.
