VARIOUS ARTISTS; HANS SCHMIDT-ISSERSTEDT
Description:
A moving collection of Dvorak recordings by a talented symphony conductor Hans Schmidt-Isserstedt's three LP albums on two CDs is a dramatically moving collection of Dvorak recordings. Dvorak and Brahms' Folk Dances are recorded together. All are recordings from Schmidt-Isserstedt's postwar years as a talented symphony conductor, when he founded the Hamburg Radio Symphony Orchestra (later the North German Radio Symphony Orchestra) in 1945 as a German orchestra modeled after the BBC Symphony Orchestra in London, where he was also music director. His musical career began as an opera conductor in Darmstadt, Hamburg, and Berlin, but he later spent his mature years as a symphony conductor. His two Dvořák serenades are being released on CD for the first time in the world. A new generation of music lovers will be able to get to know the name of this conductor. Universal Music/IMS
