A handsome set of four original Erik Buch Model 89 teak dining chairs, produced by Anderstrup Møbelfabrik, Denmark — a documented and collectible design from one of the most accomplished Danish furniture designers of the postwar era.
Erik Buch (1923–1982) was a central figure of the golden age of Danish Modern furniture design — a period in the 1950s and 1960s when Danish craftsmen and designers led the world in the creation of furniture that was simultaneously beautiful, functional, and honestly made. His chairs are characterized by warm teak construction, clean sculptural lines, and the kind of considered proportions that make Danish Modern furniture as relevant in contemporary interiors as it was sixty years ago.
The Model 89, produced by Anderstrup Møbelfabrik, is among Buch's most refined dining chair designs — the gently curved back rail, solid teak frame, and upholstered seat creating a chair that is comfortable for extended dining and visually elegant from every angle. Anderstrup was a respected Danish manufacturer whose production quality was consistent with the high standards of the Danish Modern tradition.
One seat loose. Some joints are loose, as shown in photographs — consistent with age and typical of vintage Danish teak furniture of this period. Scratches and wear from use. All issues are addressable by a furniture restorer. Please review all photographs carefully.
