The Tektronix High-Voltage Differential Probe series is a portfolio of high-voltage probing solutions that enable users to safely and accurately make floating measurements. Each probe converts floating differential signals into low-voltage, ground-referenced signals that a grounded oscilloscope can display safely and easily. The series comprises the TMDP0200, THDP0200, THDP0100, P5200A, P5202A, P5205A, and P5210A, spanning a range of differential voltages, bandwidths, attenuation settings, and oscilloscope interfaces.
Tektronix lists these probes for floating measurements, switching power supply design, motor drive design, electronic ballast design, CRT display design, power converter design and service, and power device evaluation. The active differential probes are noted as effective for making measurements in IGBT circuits such as motor drives and power converters.
A differential probe measures the voltage difference between two points in a circuit, neither of which is necessarily referenced to ground — making it the instrument of choice when a signal floats above ground potential.
ValueTronics stocks and holds its own inventory in a 20,000 square foot secure warehouse at 1675 Cambridge Drive in Elgin, Illinois.
Tektronix was founded in 1946 and built its name in oscilloscopes and signal measurement instruments. The company was acquired by Danaher Corporation in 2007, and in 2016 it became part of Fortive Corporation when Fortive was spun off from Danaher.
The Tektronix High-Voltage Differential Probe portfolio brings together seven probes that share a common purpose — safely converting floating differential signals into ground-referenced measurements — while differing in differential voltage range, bandwidth, attenuation, and oscilloscope interface. The family splits into two interface groups: the TMDP0200, THDP0200, and THDP0100 use the TekVPI interface, and the P5200A, P5202A, P5205A, and P5210A use the BNC/TekProbe interface.
Tektronix describes the THDP0100 and P5210A as having the largest differential dynamic range in the line, measuring up to ±6000 V. The THDP0200 and P5205A are active differential probes capable of safely measuring differential voltages up to ±1500 V and are noted as effective in IGBT circuits such as motor drives and power converters, while the TMDP0200 and P5202A are designed for medium-voltage applications with differential requirements up to ±750 V, lower attenuation ranges, and better signal-to-noise ratio.
Each new model in this series is listed on its own dedicated product page with condition-matched pricing. Select the specific model and interface that match your oscilloscope and measurement range, and review that model's page for its individual specifications.
The models differ first by differential voltage range. Among the TekVPI probes, the TMDP0200 measures up to ±750 V, the THDP0200 up to ±1500 V, and the THDP0100 up to ±6000 V. Among the TekProbe probes, the P5202A measures up to ±640 V, the P5200A and P5205A up to ±1300 V, and the P5210A up to ±5600 V. Each probe offers switchable attenuation between two ranges.
Bandwidth also varies across the family, from 50 MHz on the P5200A and P5210A up to 200 MHz on the TMDP0200 and THDP0200, with corresponding differences in rise time, slew rate, input impedance, and maximum input voltage-to-earth CAT ratings. The comparison table below details each model's attenuation, differential and common-mode voltages, bandwidth, and input impedance so you can match a probe to your application.
Among the BNC/TekProbe probes, attenuation and voltage handling vary by model — the P5202A uses 20X/200X attenuation with differential input up to ±640 V, the P5200A and P5205A use 50X/500X up to ±1,300 V, and the P5210A uses 100X/1000X to reach ±5,600 V differential. Maximum rated input voltage tracks these tiers as well, ranging from 450 V on the P5202A up to 2,300 V on the P5210A. The P5202A is similar to the P5205A but has approximately half the attenuation and half the dynamic range, with a better signal-to-noise ratio.

Important: For safe operation, the P5200A requires an oscilloscope or other measurement instrument with grounded inputs and should not be used with oscilloscopes that have floating (isolated) inputs, such as the TPS2000 and THS3000 Series.
Important: The P52xxA Series probes connect directly to oscilloscopes configured with the TekProbe® interface, or to any oscilloscope when used with the 1103 TekProbe® Power Supply (the 1103 power supply is required and ordered separately for scopes without the TekProbe® interface).
Important: The TP175 test leads must be ordered through Fluke.
Important: To prevent damage to the insulation on the AC285-FL alligator clips, do not use them in high A/m magnetic fields at high frequencies, which can cause induction heating of the jaws.
Important: Probes and accessories are not covered by the oscilloscope warranty and Service Offerings. Refer to the datasheet of each probe and accessory model for its unique warranty and calibration terms.
Important: For the P5200A, the power cord option must be specified when ordering.
