Bakhtiar or Bakthiari carpets are among the most popular and long-lasting nomadic carpets. They are made from high quality wool from the tribe's sheep. The sheep graze high in the mountains, which makes the wool fat and shiny.

Bakhtiari weavers draw much of their inspiration from nature and the most typical pattern is the “garden” pattern (Khesti), in which the carpet is divided into repeating squares with flowers and animals. Carpets with central medallions and tree of life motifs also occur, largely influenced by Isfahan carpets.

The carpets are very stable and durable, thick and firm in composition. Bakhtiar rugs work well in high traffic areas such as hallways and entrances.
