The Optaro® XL from Eschenbach transforms an iPad into an electronic visual aid, designed to assist those with low vision to read, write and create. 
Three elements make up the Optaro XL, the Optaro XL case and camera, a self-provided iPad and the Optaro®XL app.
Optaro®XL uses two dedicated centrally positioned HD cameras that ensure an extremely sharp image without trapezoidal distortions that can be caused by using an offset camera or the iPad’s own camera.
It has two viewing positions for ease of use and extended periods of reading or writing under the device.
With both OCR and instant read-aloud functions this product is notable in both its speed and accuracy and of course, it also has all of the low-vision accessibility features we have come to expect from Eschenbach such as contrast enhanced false colour modes, glare-free adjustable illumination, reading lines and it is portable with its own carry bag.

OCR and read-aloud functions: The Optaro®XL features 3 types of OCR depending on the type of reading being performed. 

1. Tell-me function - The fastest of the OCR functions and one of the fastest on the market. The Optaro®XL quickly recognises and reads text aloud without analysis of the text.
2. Read-aloud function - Uses the OCR camera to quickly recognise text blocks, which are highlighted and can be read-aloud individually or together. This OCR feature can be customised in terms of viewing mode and continuous reading options.
3. Scan function - Scan an entire page, the Optaro®XL combines partial images of a full-page as it is passed under the device, this page can then be analysed and read-aloud. 

Illumination: LED strip + 2 LED spots for uniform illumination (Adjustable with 3 light settings available)

Battery: Rechargeable battery (USB-C port): Operating time 6.5 hours.

Charging: 4.5 hours charge time, via USB-C cable (supplied). The Optaro®XL and iPad can be charged simultaneously 

Two operating positions: Position one is designed for fast reading and quick use, whilst position two is ideal for longer use of the device and writing under the device. 

False colour modes: 14 false colour modes available.

Lines and guides: Optional orientation guides, reading lines and overview functions are available. 

Images: Take, save and share photo's of the material viewed with Optaro®XL, and access images from the iPad's gallery within the app in order to magnify your favourite photographs.
